James Mwang’ombe Mwamodenyi

James Mwang’ombe Mwamodenyi is a conservation biologist. He is currently working for Kenya Forest Service (KFS) since 2009 as Head of Biodiversity Conservation. Before joining KFS, Mwamodenyi worked in the Tsavo Conservation Area (TCA) for 12 years for The East African Wild Life Society as the Project Coordinator based in Taita hills,  during which time he implemented several projects including the GEF/UNDP East African Cross-Border Biodiversity Project, projects funded by the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund – Conservation International and several others by National Geographic Trust Fund, Zoological Society of London, Rufford Foundation, and Darwin Initiative, among others. He has extensive knowledge and experience in participatory approaches in biodiversity conservation.

He holds an MSc in Conservation Biology, MPhil in Forest Soils and Hydrology, BSc in Forestry and is a PhD student in interdisciplinary environmental sciences.
